La muerte en Venecia
Mann, Thomas
Thomas Mann himself warns that this novel is about "passion as imbalance and degradation". Gustav Aschenbach, "stream of ashes" in German, is a mature writer who enjoys recognition. He comes to Venice in search of inspiration, but also to fill his days with aesthetic reflections in an idyllic setting. At the hotel, he meets Tadzio, a young man from Poland who is on vacation with his family. The boy becomes an object of desire and adoration; an ideal and impossible love based on aesthetic contemplation and that will lead Aschenbach to renounce everything, including himself.
