The strange and exotic Menzoberranzan, the great city of the Underdark, founded millennia ago by the dark elves after their departure from the outside world, is the abode of the hero of "The Valley of the Frozen Wind", Drizzt Do'Urden. Drizzt, the young prince of one of the ruling houses, comes of age in the cruel and ruthless world of his race, where the only ray of hope is his weapons master, Zaknafein, who teaches him how -and why- use a sword. Gifted with an honor incomprehensible to the unprincipled society that surrounds him, intent only on satisfying the vile whims of the Spider Queen, young Drizzt faces an unavoidable dilemma: can he live in a world that rejects integrity?
