After twenty years of service in the north of the country, Carabinieri Lieutenant Gregorio Misticò -known to all as Gori- returns to San Telesforo Iónico, the Calabrian town where he grew up. The real reason is known only to Nicola Strangio, a childhood friend and oncologist at a Milan hospital. The few inhabitants who still live in the town often see Gori heading towards the small beach of Pàparo, a crescent of white sand without shadow, where geese nest and the sea shines like the clearest memory of youth.
