La mala mujer
Pastor, Marc
We are in Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century, in the Raval neighborhood, where the upper bourgeoisie that accesses the Liceo theater rub shoulders with the lower classes who are crowded into narrow and dark streets where prostitution and the underworld thrive. The children of some prostitutes begin to disappear and there is a suspicion that an assassin is wandering freely through the murkiest areas of the city. At that moment, two detectives, Moisés Corvo and Juan Malsano, enter into action, who do not hesitate to use all the resources at their disposal to discover what is behind the mysterious disappearances. When influencers begin to approach, Corvo and Malsano are ordered to stop the investigation. Too late, the crimes they've uncovered outweigh anything they could have imagined. "La mala mujer", inspired by a true story, narrates events that took place in Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century. Enriqueta Martí i Ripollés, the "bad woman" of the title, lived in the Raval neighborhood, where she murdered dozens of poor children between 1909 and 1913. Known as "the vampire of Barcelona", Enriqueta practiced prostitution and extortion and He gave them as a healer. By day she begged disguised as a tramp with the children she kidnapped and then murdered ... And at night she came dressed as a great lady to the spaces frequented by the Catalan high bourgeoisie, especially the Teatro del Liceu, to carry out the work of child pimp.
