La lucha hablada
conversaciones con ETA
Gago Anton, Egoitz
Ríos Sierra, Jerónimo
After the dissolution announcement of 2018, it can be said that ETA is already part of the past. A painful, living, contradictory, bloody past that nevertheless must be known and analyzed to avoid its repetition and to definitively overcome a conflict whose nature, otherwise, runs the risk of being forgotten or reduced to a partial version. This book was born precisely with the intention of including in the historical narrative under construction the living voice of those who chose the path of no return to violence and paid for it. What prompted them to take up arms? In the name of what ideal did they decide to sow fear in a country thirsty for peace and democracy? The answers to these and other questions can be found in the nine interviews collected here with former ETA members. Researchers Egoitz Gago and Jerónimo Ríos, two of the most authoritative voices on political violence both in Spain and in Latin America, talk with each of them about joining ETA, the functions performed, the detention, the years of captivity , the different peace processes and the final dissolution. The testimonies are preceded by a broad introduction that traces the history of the terrorist group from its birth to the last days, with the intention of offering the reader a context from which to extract the critical tools necessary to analyze a story that is sometimes shocking due to its harshness.
