Liesel began her brilliant career as a thief at the age of nine. He was hungry, he stole apples, but what interested him most were the books. Maybe more than stealing them saved them. The first was the one who had fallen into the snow next to the grave where they had just buried their brother, when they were going to Molching, near Munich, where their adoptive parents were waiting for them. Hans Hubermann -perhaps the most charming character in the novel-, wall painter, cheerful accordionist and heavy smoker. And Liesel's two friends: Rudy Steiner, the neighbor a year older, half malnourished but a living money with whom he shares a thousand adventures. And Max Vandenburg, the Jewish boxer who lives hidden in the basement.
