La ley del hambre

Ballabriga, Ana
Zaplana, David

On a stormy night, Corporal Caín Álvarez, of the Civil Guard, goes with the patrol to the call of the residents of Candasnos, a small town in Los Monegros, who hear terrifying growls in the raft. Upon arrival, a monstrous animal attacks them and flees, leaving a severed arm in the water. Cain will soon discover that this victim is not the first nor will it be the last. In Barcelona, Vera is fired from her newspaper for publishing an article in which she denounces the malpractice of Semilia, a transgenic seed company located in Candasnos. Instead of giving up on her, she decides to travel to the town to continue her investigation and discover the dark secrets that the company hides. Forty years ago, Calixta witnesses a terrible event in the house of the chiefs of Candasnos where she works as a maid. After becoming a widow, she travels to Barcelona and begins a career as a showgirl at El Molino, but she will not be able to escape her fate and her curse that persecutes her.
