July, 1544. The army of the Ottoman privateer Khayr al-D?n Barbarossa headed for the coast of the island of Elba. The objective is to free the son of the general of the galleys, who is being held by the prince of Piombino. However, what really interests the privateer is not freeing the young man, but the terrible secret that he keeps: a mystery that dates back to the time of Jesus Christ and that would be capable of undermining the foundations of the Catholic faith.
