Helen and Nate leave the city behind to move to the country. They want to build their dream home on a rural piece of land on the outskirts of a forest. When they discover that their magnificent estate has a violent and dark past, Helen, a former history teacher, becomes fascinated by the local legend of Hattie Breckenridge, who was accused of witchcraft over a hundred years ago. As she immerses herself in the history of Hattie and her descendants, she will discover that that lineage goes back to the present day.
