Elizabeth Shaw is a young orphan who has been fleeing her past for fifteen years and working as a governess for children and young women from the high society of Buenos Aires. When she finally decides to return to her small native town in the south of England, one last assignment from her keeps her in the Argentine capital: a family to which she is strongly united she requires her services. Despite the fact that she supposes a delay in her plans, grateful for the help that the family gave her for years, Elizabeth decides to accept her job. However, she will soon realize that this is no ordinary task. She will have to work in the house of Tomás Hunter, an old love with a dark past, and she must take care of two children who will change her life forever. While between Tomás and Elizabeth the attraction resurfaces, the secrets will come to light and the young woman will have to face the origin of it and wonder where her heart really belongs.
