From Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt to the current rise of China and climate change, each map is set in its global historical context and accompanied by short captions that offer a new, updated, and modern perspective on the world. The historian Christian Grataloup has proposed with this book to make available to readers a new historical atlas, one devised and thought from the 21st century, a work that flees from the Eurocentric perspective that has impregnated all the previous ones and that offers us a global and updated reading of universal history. Here, all cultures are represented and often overlooked topics such as the Comanche empire, the ghettos of medieval Italy or the genesis of Hungary are addressed. In addition, it also focuses on the challenges of the modern world, from the complex network of submarine cables that connects the entire planet to the Internet to migration in the 20th century. The idea of this atlas, which is preceded by great international success, is not to bring together details and historical data, but to illustrate the general lines that trace the history of humanity with the aim of better understanding the world in which we live.
