La hija de las mareas
Sánchez Vicente, Pilar
In 1820 Andrea Carbayo de Jovellanos, La Gabacha, daughter of Gloria Carbayo, the Enchantress, and of Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos, Jovino, wrote her memoirs to record the adventures and misadventures that led her to the place where she is, persecuted by the intransigence of the inquisitor Valdés. We will relive her childhood in Obiedo and travel with her to Oxford, where, disguised as a man, she will attend the presentation of important discoveries for today's Medicine. In Paris she will live the Revolution closely with her inseparable Olympe de Gouges, turning to the fight for women's rights and her work in the printing press. A trade, that of a printer, which she will also exercise in Gixón upon her return. It will be then when she meets her father and they both enjoy fruitful walks on the beach. The director of a school for underprivileged girls, she will found a newspaper that will play a key role during the War of Independence. This warlike conflict, which will ravage the region turning it into a Dantesque scene, will lead Jovellanos to her death, making it easier for Valdés to culminate her revenge on her.
