La hermandad de los astronautas
el Juicio a las Juntas por dentro
Gil Lavedra, Ricardo
Months after democracy was recovered, Argentine society is astonished at the unveiling of a massive and atrocious criminal plan. Despite the threats from the barracks and pressure from sectors of power, six judges and two prosecutors launched the popular Trial of the Juntas, which would be a milestone for the country's history and an example for the world. They were the astronauts, the ones who had to maintain concentration and calm to protect democracy and human rights while meteorites fell in the country after the last civil-military dictatorship. Disappearances and kidnappings, arrests, torture, crimes against humanity, murders... The astronauts had to face all this with the law and justice as the only possible weapons. Ricardo Gil Lavedra, one of the judges who intervened in that unusual case, recounts in first person the ins and outs of a fundamental trial for the recent history of Argentina and the most important of his career. A trial that went around the world and that has inspired the Argentine film, 1985 by Santiago Mitre, nominated for the 2022 Oscar Awards in the category of best international film.
