La Guerra Civil en el aire

alemanes, soviéticos e italianos en los cielos de España

Alpert, Michael

The Spanish Civil War was fought by land and by sea, but also at a time of boom and great interest in air warfare and the rapid development of combat aircraft. The contest came at a crucial moment in the development of military aviation and was the scene where the new techniques of air warfare were tested, such as high-speed combat, attacks against ships, the bombardment of civilian areas. and tactical air-ground cooperation. At the center of that air war was the Condor Legion, a unit made up of military personnel from Hitler's Germany who fought in Spain on the rebel side of Franco. Michael Alpert describes and analyzes in an exceptional and acute way the intervention of German, Italian and Soviet aviation in the war, as well as the supply of airplanes in general or the role of volunteer aviators or mercenaries. His book provides new points of view on the air war in Spain, the precedents it set for World War II, and the possible lessons learned.
