La falla

La falla is a journey to the origins of a border. Halfway between the graphic novel and the photobook, Carlos Spottorno and Guillermo Abril set out after La crack -their celebrated previous proposal, also published in France, Germany, Italy and Japan-, on a new journey through what is now known in Italy as Alto Adige and in Austria as South Tyrol. A territory strewn with scars that Italy wrested from the Austrians with cannon fire during the First World War. A place where today the majority of the population speaks German and identity feelings struggle with the weight of history, whose shadow is projected to this day. This alpine paradise is also one of the most prosperous corners of the European Union. A success story watered by tourism money where pragmatism has prevailed over nationalist impulses. It can be said that they have managed with intelligence and not a little self-repression some destructive impulses that circulate through the subterranean faults under the Alps.
