La dictadura infinita
la evolución autoritaria de un Occidente cobarde y cansado de sí mismo
Pino González, L. M. del
For those of us who lived through the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union, the current situation poses a surprising enigma: how is it possible that the Western world, which had emerged victorious from the Cold War, has ended losing the game to anti-democratic forces, both internal and external? How is it possible that liberal democracy itself is showing more and more signs of collapse in the West, while in the rest of the planet the totalitarianisms that we thought were defeated are re-emerging with force? In the pages that follow, we will look back to try to see what other peoples, other societies, did in the face of the problems that plague Western civilization today. And we will see that, unfortunately for us, the West is repeating the same mistakes of the past. Which means that, perhaps, we cannot avoid the disasters that have already been shown in their day to be the consequence of those mistakes.
