La danza

cuerpos en movimientos a través de la historia

Murga Castro, Idoia

Dance is the art of the body in movement. The memory that is activated when dancing contains imaginaries and corporalities resulting from their own stories. The study of contexts and the analysis of languages, codes, gestures and symbols help to critically understand how identities are constructed over time as a result of the encounter of the collective and the diverse. This book proposes an introductory tour of the history of Western dance between Antiquity and the Contemporary Age through its keys and main contributions. It brings together the lines that have defined historical stories, combining outstanding pieces, primary sources and main bibliography. Added to this are references to transculturality, decentering and international exchange that challenge other writings of dance stories with which to expand knowledge of/about/from the dancing body.
