The firmament darkens over Terra as the final battle for the Throne draws ever closer... As the traitor primarchs gather under the banner of the Warmaster, Mortarion is ordered to advance to lead the vanguard of the rebel forces. . However, as he and his warriors make their way, they become lost in the warp and are struck by a terrible plague. Members of the legendary Death Guard, once considered unbreakable, are brought to their knees. To save the legion from him, Mortarion must seal a brutal pact that will doom his children for all eternity. Meanwhile, in the confines of sacred Terra, a plan is set in motion to sow sedition and slaughter before the arrival of the armies of Horus.
