La crisis del mundo moderno

Everyone agrees that Western civilization is in crisis: a crisis of values, a crisis of resources, a crisis, in short, of a system that seems irremediably doomed to its dissolution. René Guénon's diagnosis, the main representative of esoteric doctrines in the 20th century, stands out with respect to the numerous interpretations that have been given of the phenomenon. Guénon opposes to the materialistic civilization of the West a spiritualism whose roots, today, can only be found in the East. And the fact that his convictions are based on initiatory knowledge is what allows him to start from assumptions as unusual as the one contained in this statement of his: "Since everything that exists in any form, even the same error, necessarily has its raison d'être, even disorder itself must finally find its place among the elements of the order of the universe". In the panorama of the modern age outlined by Guénon, our historical moment is configured as the kali-yuga, the shadow age predicted by the Hindu doctrine of human cycles.
