La cosmovisión de los grandes científicos del siglo XX
convicciones éticas, políticas, filosóficas o religiosas de los protagonistas de las revoluciones científicas contemporáneas
Arana, Juan
The usual task of philosophy is to answer questions regarding the frontiers of knowledge, the meaning of existence, the principles of human action or social coexistence. However, in the 20th century, philosophers adopted a more cautious attitude, they sought more cryptic forms of expression, they tried to achieve higher levels of rigor in exchange for cutting their ambitions. As for the latter questions, scientists have often compensated for this withdrawal. Many of them have dared to speculate on such controversial issues as the origin of the universe and the destiny of man. They have done so as a culmination to more concrete and empirical investigations, in line with widely published writings, autobiographical texts, essays, addresses or conferences. This book compiles, exposes and criticizes the worldview of 39 authors chosen among the most relevant contemporary scientists in all fields of research.
