La compasión difícil

Maillard, Chantal

This is without a doubt the most disturbing book Chantal Maillard has written to date. In it, she confronts the great issues that humanity has been wondering about since the beginning of time. Birth, pain and death, the gods and their absence, the relationship of our species with other living beings, motherhood and suicide, guilt and innocence, judgment and belief. All this revolving around the axis of a primordial violence that we all suffer while inflicting. How to sympathize, considering the crime?, asks the author. And how not to pity, considering the hunger? The Eastern traditions and the classical Greek world are once again present in this writing that seems, however, to always arise from the body, from the experience lived in search of an impossible freedom and a clairvoyance that arouses fear for what it may come to understand.
