La civilización de la memoria de pez
pequeño tratado sobre el mercado de la atención
Patino, Bruno
Nine seconds. That is what our attention span in the contemporary world has been reduced to: we are a society unable to maintain concentration beyond the immediate excitement of the last tweet. But our endemic distraction, a true plague of modern society, is the result of the directed imposition of a business model, a digital capitalism that has found in the network the possibility of a market in perpetual growth, an economy of attention based on destruction of our concentration, on the promotion of our continuous craving for news, images, stimuli, 'likes'. The good news is that this means that it is not a new human condition. We are not inattentive, they have made us like this. And for that reason we can stop being it.
