114 AD In the arid plains beyond the eastern border of the Empire, a Roman legion lays siege to the city of Nicopolis. Separated from her beloved Enica to keep her safe, centurion Flavio Ferox continues to work for the Emperor's cousin, the calculating and ruthless Hadrian. His next mission: to uncover a corruption scheme in the army whose leaders appear to be high command. Ferox has no choice but to kill a tribune, but he knows that the true traitors are on the loose.
