Arrested by the Gestapo and deported to Auschwitz as a political prisoner, the young woman resigns herself to her own fate. But when the ruthless Lagerführer Karl Fritzsch discovers her extraordinary talent for playing chess, he decides to entertain the rest of her guards by challenging her to a grueling and sadistic tournament.
