La casa de Iggie

Blume, Judy

Iggie, Winnie's neighbor, has moved to Tokyo. A tragedy, because she was her best friend and now Winnie has been left a little alone on Grove Street, chewing gum and wondering who she will spend the rest of the summer with. Until they tell you that the new neighbors are coming. They are the Garbers, a couple with three children. But when they disembark at the house, the surprise is great: they are black, the first in the neighborhood! Winnie couldn't be happier, because at school there has always been talk about respecting everyone equally, regardless of color, but so far she hadn't been able to put herself to the test, because everyone on Grove Street they are white. To show that she is a good neighbor, she runs to welcome them. However, the problems will not be long in coming, because not everyone will be willing to accept their presence. And the Garbers won't just need "a good neighbor." They will need a friend.
