La caja de Pandora

Dazai, Osamu

Risuke Koshiba, the protagonist of the novel, writes to a friend about his experiences in the clinic where he is admitted to recover from tuberculosis. Behind the apparently simple narration of the events that occur in the sanatorium, inhabited by extravagant patients and caregivers who call each other in the most eccentric way, the contradictions and longing of the young Alondra are hidden -that is how Risuke is renamed- of becoming a "new man" in Japan trying to rise from the devastation of World War II.
