La caída de Robespierre

24 horas en el París revolucionario

Jones, Colin

The 9th of Thermidor (July 27, 1794) marked a turning point in the history of the French Revolution. At midnight, Maximilien Robespierre, the most important member of the Committee of Public Safety that had led France for more than a year, faced a plot that threatened his life and endangered the course of the Revolution. The next midnight, after 24 hours filled with uncertainty, surprises and setbacks, his world is turned upside down. Considered an outlaw, wanted and captured on charges of conspiring against the Republic, Robespierre finds himself cornered and feels that his life and his revolutionary career are over. During the struggle to arrest him, he is shot and, the next day, half dead, slandered and, to the great joy of the people, he falls victim to the guillotine. The Fall of Robespierre is a frantic journey to revolutionary Paris in which hour by hour, minute by minute, we see the events that led to Robespierre's death, from the small details to the most momentous events of the Revolution.
