Each farmhouse has a history full of life and emotion in some cases and drama and uncertain and obscure future prospects in other -too many- cases. In this book I wanted to provide the historical and personal context behind the fifteen houses chosen. I thought the stories deserved to be told as paradigmatic cases that reflect very well the current situation of Catalan farmhouses. It is not intended to be a handbook or a work of history of farmhouses, but a humble reflection on the legacy that lies within its stone walls, where they come from, where they are and how they face the future.
