Paris, 1939. Young Odile Souchet has it all: a handsome police officer boyfriend and a dream job at the American Library in Paris. But when war breaks out and the Nazis march on Paris, Odile risks losing everything that matters to her, including his beloved library. She knows that in difficult times the temples of culture are in danger because books contain forbidden words and ideas that must be destroyed. Odile cannot allow that to happen: she must save those pages, so that they can nurture the minds of whoever comes next. Together with his companions, he joins the Resistance and makes the center available to the Jews: expelled from their homes, after the books they feel safe, and Odile will defend them at all costs.
