La Bauhaus
taller del movimiento moderno
Nerdinger, Winfried
The Bauhaus -today synonymous with the architecture and design of classical modernity- was founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius as a reformist school in Weimar. Its members included such great names as Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Marianne Brandt and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. All of them contributed to developing a comprehensive concept in order to connect art and design, crafts and technology. This short introduction presents a vivid image of a momentous institution that, in just fourteen years and three different places (Weimar-Dessau and Berlin), marked the history of architecture and art.
