La aventura semiológica

A few days ago a student came to see me. She asked me to prepare a doctorate on the following topic: Ideological critique of semiology. It seems to me that in this small scene all the elements are present from which it is possible to sketch the situation of semiology and its recent history: It is the ideological process, that is, political, to which it is frequently subjected to semiology... Secondly, the idea that the one to whom this student was addressing was one of the representatives of this semiology... Finally, the intuition that, in the role of semi-official semiologist that she attributed to me, there was still a certain vibration, a certain duplicity...: hence that kind of mild friendliness that this scene, full of intellectual coquetry, has left me in my memory.
