A terrible army uprising against Queen Isabel II stains the streets of Madrid with blood and dead and horror spreads throughout the city. Between cannon fire and gunshots, a dancer named Leonor and Mauro, a medical student, find themselves involved in a homicide that will mark their lives. To avoid prison or death, Leonor is forced to flee to Havana, but when she gets there, this supposed paradise is not what she expects. The sugar plantations and sugar mills hide the tragedy of slavery that is still very much alive. And, among the slaves, Mauro reappears, although it may be too late to regain his love. In a desperate attempt to escape this hell, both will discover that the mill where they are hiding a cruel plot of murders following a brutally ferocious ancestral rite.
