Km 123

Camilleri, Andrea

The novel starts with a switched off mobile. Esther is the one who calls; who does not respond, Giulio, who has just been transferred to hospital in serious condition due to an accident at kilometer 123 of Via Aurelia in Rome. However, the one who will connect the phone is Giuditta, Giulio's wife, who logically knows nothing about Esther. It might seem like the start of a sitcom, but nothing could be further from the truth: a witness claims that Giulio's accident was actually an attempted murder, so the investigation will be assigned to the insightful criminal police inspector Attilio. Bongioanni, who must face a case in which nothing is as it seems. A very intelligent, fast, multi-voiced thriller that never gives breath and that immerses the reader in a devilishly clever plot to enjoy from beginning to end and that confirms, once again, Andrea Camilleri as the master of contemporary crime fiction.
