Paris, 1943. Justin is twenty-two years old. He is in love with Renée and wants to marry her. But the collaborationist Vichy government created the STO, the Compulsory Labor Service, to supply the invading country with labor. Like hundreds of thousands of young French people, Justin is forced to go to Germany. Like all of them, he ignores what awaits him there. All of his life, Justin will regret having obeyed Vichy.
