Josep Maria Rovira i Jané
l'afany pel benestar de la pagesia vitivinícola
Solé i Armajach, Josep
Josep Maria Rovira i Jané, priest, intellectual heir of his parents, agricultural owner for a few years, oenologist and phytopathologist, sociologist and economist. Associated with the Noia Agricultural Chamber, he was its director of the oenological laboratory, and secretary of the entity and of the Caixa Rural. Destined for Catholic social action, the Chamber promoted it in the critical days of the Bolshevik triennium; having achieved the membership of the Catholic Agrarian Federation of Barcelona, ??the coincidence of objectives brought him closer to the Union of Vineyards of Catalonia, and he became a member of its regional board; took part in the foundation of the National Confederation of Viticulturists of Spain. Promoter of unions, cooperative wineries and rural savings banks, he fought for the welfare of the peasantry, spreading knowledge, suggesting the industrial diversification of production ... Faced with the urgency of dealing with a crisis that was ruining the sector, he did not hesitate to dealing with fraudulent trade and autistic governments. Son of the land and passionate about the art of the farmer, he shows us amazing, restless, tireless worker and a little dreamy.
