Jaume Cubells, escultor (1925-2007)

VV.AA.

Jaume Cubells Sanahuja was born in Barcelona in 1925 and began to publicly present his work towards the beginning of the sixties, at an age that, depending on who, could be considered advanced to be an emerging artist; even so, it seems that it was received quite well in the artistic circuit of the moment. During the 1960s and 1970s, he held individual exhibitions, participated in other group exhibitions alongside names that are recognized today, received the support of leading critics and worked with art galleries, through the which sold quite a few works. Cubells is an artist of his time, who followed in the footsteps of artists such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth or Constantin Brâncusi, as well as could also be associated with other contemporary peninsular sculptors such as Néstor Basterretxea, Marcel Martí or Xavier Corberó, but who contributed also a very own language.
