Winter of 1870. Her father has left Elora Duval on a steamer on her way to Cormorant Island. The mother of a thirteen-year-old girl has died and will have to start a new life at her grandmother Brigita's farm. He will also start working as a nanny in Galantene, and will soon strengthen his relationship with the local little Ariane. But neither Elora nor Ariane are ordinary girls: being free to perceive messages or events that no one else can foresee, they will untie the knot of a tragic long-standing legend between us. And most importantly: Elora will know that she is part of a strong female lineage. Maybe that's why he'll find the Gate of the Sea.
