Ir más allá de la piel
repensar, rehacer y reivindicar el cuerpo en el capitalismo contemporáneo
Federici, Silvia
What role does the "body" play today as a category of political action? What are the processes by which it is constituted? How do we dismantle the "enclosure" devices of our bodies and collectively reclaim our autonomy? Perhaps more than ever, "the body" is now at the center of politics, both radical and institutional. On the one hand, feminist, anti-racist, trans, environmental movements, etc., take the body as a terrain of confrontation, as well as a vehicle for transformative social practices. On the other, the body has become a signifier of the crisis of reproduction pushed by the neoliberal turn of capitalist development, as well as by the resurgence of repression and violence. In Going Beyond the Skin, activist and theorist Silvia Federici examines these complex processes, in the historical context of the capitalist transformation of the body into a work machine, thus expanding on one of the main themes of her first book, Caliban. and the witch. In a double direction, she examines the new paradigms that today govern the conception of the body in the radical collective imagination, but also in the new disciplinary regimes that the State and capital are implementing in response to the growing revolt against the daily attacks on our daily reproduction. The result is an illuminating and extremely contemporary book.
