Infografías del Imperio Español
Rey Vicente, Miguel del
Canales Torres, Carlos
The Spanish Empire, made up of a group of European, American, Asian, African and Oceanian territories, was the first to be global in scope from the 16th to the 19th century, covering vast expanses far removed from the imperial metropolis. Unlike other great empires before, its extensive possessions were not always communicated by land, which required the constant maintenance of a significant maritime power. At the beginning of the 19th century, it lost extraordinary areas of territory that today we don't even remember belonged to it, such as the entire western United States -from California to Texas-, Alaska, Louisiana, Florida or the Carolinas, Marianas, Palau and the Philippines. This book rescues the most significant data from more than three centuries of history of those territories that once formed part of the Spanish Empire, presenting them through illuminating maps and visual diagrams.
