A paranormal study group is infiltrated by one of the otherworldly beings they intend to investigate. In a brothel for fantastic specialists, two concubines fall in love with tragic consequences. And in another story, the Kafkaesque journey of the comics industry over the last seventy-five years is traced from the point of view of various characters, sometimes naive and sometimes maniacal, but always with ups and downs in their careers; thus, Moore lays bare the dark, beating heart of the superhero business.
