Bonfire is the story of an anonymous man who decides to build a house with his own hands in the middle of devastated nature, after what we intuit was a collapse of civilization or a colossal ecological crisis. While he does so, despite the countless difficulties he will have to overcome, he will discover a non-human world that will transform his life: his thoughts, his vision of himself and reality, as well as his dreams. him, will take on a new dimension. Wild animals, raids under the Moon, fantastic apparitions, chimeras and epiphanies, unfathomable encounters, euphoria and despair crackle in the stories of this fire. A bonfire that ignites and lingers in the middle of the night. If the house is finally built, we won't know for sure. What was a project limited to the construction of a material shelter, a physical space, ends up becoming the construction of an entire universe. Halfway between a tale, a fable, an essay and poetry, each chapter of this story is accompanied by an illustration that evokes baroque emblems and medieval miniatures, times when the mysteries of the world and heaven were kept veiled (and supported) by literature. So many words, shaped over so many generations to designate, separate and classify the infinite existing things in an attempt to understand the world: to make it useful. But, at the same time, all those names pile up before us and form an insurmountable wall between authentic nature and the anthropocentric vision of reality. However, everything will be in vain, all fire will be extinguished one day and only ashes will remain, a few oracular residues. This is Bonfire, just the literary ashes of fire, sunsets and dreams of a man who opened his eyes to the night while building a home to protect himself, ironically, from it, that ancient goddess of whom he will end up being the most fervent devotee.
