Curiosity determines the direction of the researchers work. Because everything is a problem on the subject, it raises questions and answers them. This is how science is embodied, and among the sciences, linguistics. What is language? Can wild children learn to speak? Are we the only animals that can talk? Can chimpanzees learn to talk? Do Xibarta whales always sing the same song? Was he right when Nelson Mandela said "if you speak to [anyone] in his own language, that goes to his heart"? Why are First Nations girls and women being killed in Canada? Does genocide have anything to do with language and culture? Do children adopted abroad lose their mother tongue? Can our inner voice become a conversation without uttering a sound? These are some of the questions the reader will find in this book and the answers the research has given them. They probably won't be definitive answers, but they may spark the reader's curiosity.
