Selection of seven stories by four founding authors of the detective genre: Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Maurice Leblanc and Gilbert Keith Chesterton, creators respectively of Auguste Dupin, Sherlock Holmes, Arsène Lupin and Father Brown. Some observant, insightful, sharp and very cunning protagonists, who are inspired by all subsequent detectives who succeed both in literature and in film or television. All the stories collected in this volume have been translated and adapted, reducing dialogue and simplifying some passages and making the language as accessible as possible for today's audiences, but without removing any essential aspect of them.
