This volume is the second in the series that compiles the different stories that Andrea Camilleri set in the imagined and unmistakable Vigàta. It offers, like the first, eight stories with the characteristic seal of its author: an intelligent and biting humor, rhythm, intrigues and entanglements, and a very particular look at a world and a humanity full of contradictions, miseries and goodness. and focused on the flow of life in a small Sicilian town between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th. Among the parade of characters and situations that Camilleri arranges in these stories, one can find two ice cream vendors facing each other in an endless duel; a girl who, dressed as the Virgin Mary, causes conversions and repentance in torrents; a donkey named Mussolini; an epidemic of anonymous letters that will devastate the vigatanos; or an old marquis desperate to find someone to marry. Andrea Camilleri, a fantastic watchmaker, winds the springs and decides that they are inadvertently non-conforming, so that the marked hour sounds unexpected and thunderous, like a mistake of fate.
