Historia traicionada
nación española y refutación del nacionalismo vasco
Nebreda Pérez, Joaquín María
It is necessary to justify that Spain is not only a legal fact since 1812, ratified in 1978 -the author laments-, but that it is a historical nation. It is not a failed nation at all, but rather a powerful focus of internal culture, and a civilizer of half the world, which crystallizes in an unrepeatable human miscegenation. It must be emphasized, not for lack of evidence, but for the inferiority complex that grips us. These pages are concerned with reminding us that Spain is a historical nation and not a nation of nations since none of its regions has the thickness and cultural and historical density that its whole treasures; none is self-explanatory. Our nation is diverse, and not uniform or artificial, because it is not the result of social engineering but of the long cooking of history. The author refutes nationalism because he rejects its ahistorical construction with mythological devices founded (unfounded) in the mists of time. Original sovereignty, differential fact, historical rights, etc., are pieces of a social engineering that reality rejects, history and civilization reject, and has demanded indoctrination, coercion and violence. Joaquín María Nebreda denounces that Basque society, thus rebuilt, has become unstressed, monotonous and silent, the antipodes of the plurality and freedom that the Europe of the 21st century demands. Today the Basque Country is less diverse and more uniform than ever. An anomalous situation that requires not only putting the public eye on what happened, but also healing by the truth and without revenge. Because... falsifying the past will only make the future illicit.
