Historia gráfica de la Guerra Civil
Riera Pujal, Jordi
Kap
The vignettes, comics and jokes that were published during the Spanish Civil War serve us today as a graphic testimony of the conflict and, especially, of what it meant to try to replace a devastated country. The cartoonists -immortalized thanks to their work- stand as spokespersons for everyday reality from the outbreak of the war in 1936 until its end in 1939. The wide selection of drawings reflects the diversity of ideologies, positions and points of view of a wounded society. They are also a sampler of all shades of humor, from the most absurd to the most polarized and revengeful. The authors have outlined an itinerary that guides the reader through different themes: the bombings, the rearguard, childhood, the church and women, without forgetting the front or the international scene. A vision of the Civil War from an angle that had hardly been paid attention to until now.
