Historia del dinero
Kwarteng, Kwasi
This is not a chronicle of the most recent financial crisis (although also), nor of the looting of the Spanish conquerors in America (which is related in the book), nor of how the gold standard came and went, or why they were created the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank (does "Bretton Woods" tell you something?), not even about the great financial turmoil from the Depression to the creation of the euro (with its protagonists and ups and downs). This is a history of money. Of gold, of paper, of the passage from one to another, of that complicated entity that we call "economy" and its relationship with the fall of empires (financial or others). And, as in all great books, a pattern is discovered here: a line of continuity between wars, debts, and fluctuations. Between ways of paying, borrowing, financing and investing. A story that everyone with a bank account needs to read.
