Historia del descubrimiento y conquista del Perú
Zárate, Agustín de
Ortiz Canseco, Marta
(ed.)
Agustín de Zárate is considered one of the main chroniclers of the arrival of the Spaniards in Peru. In Peruvian territory he lived through the revolt of Gonzalo Pizarro and years later he will be accused of having supported the rebel Pizarro and will even be imprisoned for it. From 1554 he was again in favor with the still Prince Philip, with whose fleet he traveled to England and then to Antwerp, where he left a manuscript for printing. This text, entitled "History of the discovery and conquest of Peru", was edited by Martín Nuncio in 1555. It is the prince edition of one of the fundamental works of the corpus of chronicles of the conquest and colonization of Peru, which we publish reliably in this volume.
