Historia de los reinos cristianos

This work describes the most relevant facts for the history of Spain of the ninety-eight monarchs who governed the Christian kingdoms. Some were excellent and others lousy, holy and wicked; there were intriguing, murderous, opportunistic, unbalanced, wise, clumsy, warriors, cowards, brave, humble, arrogant, lustful, chaste, altruistic, intellectuals... and with short and long reigns. All of them formed part of the colossal and colossal history of Spain. From the occupation of the Visigoth kingdom by the Muslims, in 711, until the death of Juana "la Loca" in 1555, different Christian kingdoms appeared and evolved: the kingdom of Asturias, which remained since Pelayo defeated the Muslims in Covadonga in 722 until Alfonso III "the Great" transformed it into the kingdom of León (910); the kingdom of Pamplona, ??created by Íñigo Íñiguez in 824, which Sancho VI "the Wise" changed its name to the kingdom of Navarre in 1162; the kingdom of Aragon, which emerged with Ramiro I in 1035 and was transformed into the crown of Aragon in 1137, when the kingdom of Aragon and the county of Barcelona were united, after Petronila of Aragon married Ramon Berenguer IV of Barcelona; the kingdom of Castile, which was born with Fernando I "the Great" in 1037 and became the crown of Castile when the kingdoms of Castile and León were united, with Fernando III "the Saint" (1230); the union of the crowns of Castile and Aragon, with the Catholic Monarchs (1475); and the annexation of the kingdom of Navarre to Castilla-Aragón, with Fernando "el Católico" (1515). The whole constituted the kingdom of Hispania, which would be consolidated with Carlos I, after the death of his mother Juana "la Loca" (1555), and was the origin of the current Spanish monarchy.
