Historia de las guerras de España en Marruecos
de El Serrallo a Yebel Taria, el eterno conflicto
González Andradas, Rogelio
Much has been written about the endless war between Spain and Morocco, but this book is able to narrate the war events that took place against the rebellious tribes from the origins of the Spanish presence -back in the 15th century- until the independence of the constituted Kingdom of Morocco. , on March 2, 1956. Its pages recount the seven wars that took place between 1859 and 1927, with special emphasis on the Annual Tragedy (1921) and the Alhucemas Landing (1925) with its Final Offensive (1926-1927). ). Did the war in Morocco, or the "eternal Moroccan conflict", as the rulers defined it, have any benefit for Spain? In geostrategic terms, what did it mean to dominate the north of the Protectorate? The result was a succession of bloody campaigns as well as a drain on men and resources for Spain. A headache for Spanish politicians and a large part of the population, who saw how their children had to go to Africa to, unfortunately, kill and die. The war events that are reflected here have been extracted from various official documentation, from the Service Sheets of the author's grandfather and great-uncle, and from official sources such as the famous Picasso File. For all these reasons, this is a magnificent edition to put a face to the horror and chilling atrocities while helping us to know fascinating micro-stories of bravery and honor. As a military participant in those campaigns said: "Without Africa I can barely explain myself, nor do I explain myself to my comrades in arms."
